15 Super Easy, Sustainable Date Ideas

Need some inspiration for a romantic, date night?  Finding activities that are fun, romantic and sustainable is easier than you think!  Here are 15 eco-friendly, sustainable date ideas for your next date night.  

1.  Go for a hike and immerse yourself in nature 

If you're adventurous, try a park that you haven't visited before - it always makes things exciting to explore new places.  A great way to find a park with scenic views is to check out your state or local parks website.  Oftentimes these websites will have a map of the park with pictures of the different areas, so you can get an idea of what the park looks like before you go.

2.  Go on a nature walk

If you're looking for a more intimate setting, why not take a romantic walk in nature? There's something about getting lost in nature that can be incredibly special. 

Being outdoors has a has a natural, de-stressing effect and it's great for your health and mood.  It's an experience that can be shared with just one person, and it's definitely a date night winner in our books. 


3.  Have a Picnic 

This takes some planning and packing, but it's worth it!  A picnic is a great way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. It can also be a fun way to spend time with that special someone.  Plan ahead and pack some food and drinks. Go green and bring your own reusable cutlery and water bottles.

You'll also need a place to sit and eat - so don't forget a picnic blanket for laying down and cozying up.

4.  Go for a Bike Ride

It's great exercise and a wonderful couple's activity - two in one!  Extra points if you can find a tandem bike. 

Try to find a bike route that is quiet and scenic. This will allow for some relaxing vibes to flow. The route could take you through a park or by a river. It's a great way to clear your head and enjoy some peace and quiet.  My personal favorite is a winding road that hugs the coastline. The ocean is a great source of relaxation and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore can be therapeutic. The salty air is also refreshing and can help clear your mind. 


5.  Movie night at Home 

You can stream everything from the comfort of your home these days - no driving or gas needed - making this an easy, sustainable date.  Pop some popcorn, make some drinks, and get comfortable on the couch. This is a great way to spend a quiet night indoors and catch up on some entertainment.  


6.  Visit a Sustainable Winery 

Sustainable wines are made in a way that is environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically feasible. They also taste great!

Wineries can be a lot of fun as they offer the opportunity to tickle your taste buds with something new.  If you're looking for a new and exciting date night, this is a great option.  

If there aren't any wine tastings in your area, buy a few different types of wines from the local store and have a private tasting party at home.  Pretend to be wine connoisseurs - guess and describe the flavors and aromas.

7. Bake a sweet treat together 

Baking is a fun and easy way to spend time together and you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor when you're done.  Pick a recipe, get ingredients, and get to work.  This is a great way to connect in the kitchen and you'll likely have a delicious treat to enjoy once you're done.

8.  Make a meal together 

Cooking together is a fun way to spend time together and you can make something delicious in the process. Pick a recipe, go shopping for ingredients, and get cooking.  Not only will you have a great meal to enjoy, but you'll also have some fun memories from your date night in the kitchen.
